1-22-26    THOUGHTS

Our lesson this morning involves “looking to the reward”!   Faith is the key!  First Moses parents, then Moses.  They do things that declare their faith.  They are people of God’s world, not this world.  Verse 26 says of Moses, “ for he was looking to the reward.”   Moses valued his relationship with God over all other relationships.  The words “considering the reproach of Christ greater riches...” are most interesting.  As the eternal WORD, Christ has been at the source of God’s workings from the beginning! Our text says “they were not afraid” several times.  Ps 118:6   “The LORD is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?”

Heb 11:23-28    By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.  24  By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25  choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,  26  considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt;
for he was looking to the reward.  27  By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen. 28  By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that he who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them.

Our Prayer:
It is awesome, God, to be held in Your hands as children.  You are our Rock to flee to in troubled times.  We thank You that these things are so.  We trust in You always.  You give us hope to live by.  Our eternal sails are set in Christ our Lord.  Awaken us and revive us to live a more intense life of love service for You.  Help our abiding in Your presence.  In the name of Jesus,   Amen.
